As he neared the end of his days, John Henry would talk about his life to young Cameron Tully ('Colbert Kelly' in the story). He spoke of drought and flood, of days and nights alone in the bush, of dingo trapping, bush pubs, picnic race meetings, long forgotten local identities, amorous exploits and tragic losses of loved ones.
