Many Times a Champion - the life and times of Cecil Pearce of Warwick Town - a rough rider of renown by Jeff Close as recounted by Ron Pearce.

This story is centred on Cecil Pearce. As Buddy William says in his song Headin' for the Warwick Rodeo - "a buckjumper of renown".

But it is more than Cecil Pearce - buckjump champion 1933, 34 and 1935. It covers how the Wattles grew into the APRA; the young men who joined the Light Horse; rodeo folk such as Violet and Lance Skewthorpe;travels with the early tent shows such as Thorpe McConville and Ken Huntley; revisits the early days of rodeo in Warwick and indeed early Warwick itself; meets some of the horses such as Knickerbockerbuckaroo and Arawidgee, Bedourie and Rocky Ned.

Then there is Charles Chauvel's movie Greenhide, rodeo during WWII, and the advert on the Akubra box.

Some great photographs such as Crockett spurs, Warwick buckjumpers at Morgan Park, early views of Warwick, Ned Portley and Bushman Bill.

A great read
